Your sign is the first thing a customer sees and the last thing they remember. Most shops in the UAE end up choosing between two kinds: 3D letters and a flex face sign. Both work. They just do different jobs.
What each sign is
3D letters are cut one by one from acrylic, stainless steel or aluminium and fixed to the façade or to a backing panel. They can be front-lit (light comes through the face), halo-lit (light glows on the wall behind) or not lit at all.
A flex face sign is one large printed face stretched over a lit aluminium frame. Your logo, name, phone number and even photos are printed on backlit flex, and LEDs inside light the whole face evenly.

How they compare
- Look: 3D letters look premium and architectural. A flex face reads as one bright block of colour.
- Budget: a flex face gives you more sign for the money, especially on a wide fascia. 3D letters cost more per metre, and metal costs more than acrylic.
- At night: both light up well. Front-lit letters are the brightest; halo-lit letters are softer and suit clinics, salons and reception walls.
- Changing it later: a flex face can be reprinted and refitted on the same frame when your offer or branding changes. Letters are built to stay.
- Lead time: most flex face fascias are ready within a week of design approval. Most 3D signs take 5 to 10 working days.
When to choose 3D letters
Choose letters when the brand is the product: restaurants, cafés, clinics, showrooms and offices. They also suit clean façades where a big box would hide good architecture, and reception walls inside.
When to choose a flex face
Choose a flex face when you have a wide fascia, a tight budget or a lot to say. Supermarkets, pharmacies, laundries and service shops often need the name, the services and a phone number to read from the road. A flex face fits all of it.
Or use both
Many of our shopfronts combine the two: a flex face fascia across the full width, with the logo or name in 3D letters on top of it. You get the coverage of the flex and the depth of the letters.
Size it for the street
A rough rule we use: about 10 cm of letter height for every 10 to 15 metres between the sign and the people you want to read it at a glance. A sign seen from a main road needs bigger letters than one seen from a shaded walkway in a mall.
Before you order
- Measure the fascia width and height, or send us a photo with the shop door in it so we can scale from it.
- Check what your landlord and municipality allow. We design the sign to the rules and prepare the drawings your permit needs; the permit itself is issued to the business owner.
- Tell us your opening date. We plan production back from it.
Not sure which one suits your shop? Send a photo of your façade on WhatsApp and we will show you both options on it, with prices, within 24 hours. See more on our 3D signage and flex face sign pages.
